I was blog surfing the other night and came across the delightful blog Chic 'n Cheap Living which is now saved in my frequent reads tab! The artwork in her header is what first struck me, it is an amazing watercolor piece and as I read her recent postings, I learned she is having a giveaway to readers from the artist! Check it out here.

The artist, is Cate Parr who has a shop on Etsy of her watercolor art. A visit to her store had me so captivated and in awe of the beautiful work she does, I am having a hard time deciding which work I love the most. I have been trying to keep my eye out for new art for the home and this is absolutely on my must buy list. Closet Paralysis

It seems recently that every time I walk into my closet I can't find anything to wear. I certainly don't have a lack of clothing, but when the seasons change I'm left standing there, staring with a blank expression. What exactly DID I wear last Spring, Summer, Winter? Honestly, my closet needs an intense overhaul because I know I wore something, but I can't seem to figure out what it was! I know every girl has this problem, but why do we? How can we possibly stand in a closet surrounded by rows and piles of clothes and still exclaim I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!?

p.s. isn't Lucy so cute hanging out in my closet? She is such a delight! And yes, that is a hulla hoop in the back by the window.

I'm so happy to not have to bundle up anymore for casual weekends. I live in a very old house with very thick walls and high ceilings. In the winter that equals weekend days spent bundled up in layers. For spring and summer I am thrilled to shed the layers and opt for a more simple casual chic. I love the oversized tee trend! They are perfect for throwing over a pair of leggings or cute shorts and the flowing proportions happily disguise the extra cookies that may have landed on your bum!

A Colorful Spring

It finally seems to be consistently warm here in Baltimore, which means that it is now officially Spring! This also means I can no longer wear my favorite black (or close to black) polishes on my toes and fingers. What is a girl to do? I'm always hesitant to wear a color (besides black) on my fingers because when I do, I always end up wearing outfits that don't go well with the color. I love red on nails, but sometimes that doesn't match everything either. Decisions, DECISIONS! Check out some of Essie's Spring brights below:

On Monday I took off work to do a little creative therapy on myself. I had the pleasure to help my dear friend Stephanie with her table setup for the NACE Uncorked event. The theme was "A Night of Mystery" and Stephanie's table theme was "The Pink Panther." The table details came together beautifully and since I had flower duty, I learned a little bit about flower arranging. Just getting a little practice before I design the tablescape for The Bestie's wedding in August!

We are experiencing some slightly warmer temperatures here in Baltimore and the crocuses are beginning to bloom and these Miu Miu sling backs are just the shoe to start spring off with a kick! I've been wanting a pair of nude color shoes for a few seasons now and the detail of these is just LOVELY! How amazing is the buckle detail at the toe?

New Favorite Thing

Aladdin To-Go Tumbler

Behold, my new favorite thing! Yes, it's simple and only $12.99 which makes it even better, but I am getting so much joy out of this special drink container its silly. It started when a co-worker was washing out what appeared to be a venti starbucks cup - not the paper coffee kind, the plastic frappuchino kind. Then I realized it was not the everyday, use and toss cup; it was indeed a plastic, insulated tumbler with a screw on lid and plastic straw. All completely washable, dishwasher safe and REUSABLE! Talk about recycling. I had to have one. She informed me she got it around Christmas and they didn't have anymore. I was crushed.

Yesterday, I was in Target and found something almost as great! Its great, minus the Starbucks logo and details that are on the Starbucks cup. The Aladdin To-Go Tumbler is my new favorite thing, its insulated so it keeps my coffee hot and my ice remains solid ice for hours - at least until I'm done drinking. My favorite part is the flat lid that screws on and looks just like the plastic lids that come on fountain sodas. Clearly it takes little to get me excited these days.

Oh by the way, in a few weeks I have a big announcement!

Relationships are interesting. They can be white hot one moment and then tired and boring the next. Kind of like fashion in a way. Usually when a suit or dress is no longer serving its purpose, maybe it was too trendy and is now dated, we search for something new. I just got out of a pretty great relationship, as great as it was though, it just wasn't going to move any further and thus stopped serving its purpose. Now I think I need some sort of consolation prize - not to make me feel better because I feel very secure and happy in my decision, but more as a congratulatory gift. I LOVE my large sized Michael Kors Chronograph watch, and I guess since four of my friends have the same one or very similar, it shows I have somewhat good taste. But recently, a few of us have had the discussion about how we run into people randomly with the exact same watch. Again, just confirmation that we have good taste; but I think the time has come to find a new watch. The hunt begins.....any suggestions are very welcome in the comment box.

If this were my bedroom I'd have to start working from home because I would never leave! The drama of the full wall of drapes adds so much warmth and glamour. I also adore the height of the love seat at the foot of the bed making it seem all that much more cozy by closing it in. Everything is balanced with the green following down to the bed linens and to the pillow on the love seat; the brown following from the wall to the rug to the hardwood floor. One more element added and it would be too much, but as it stands I'd say it's absolute perfection.

February is the dead of Winter and I know a lot of you have been experiencing frigid temperatures and your hands, like mine, have become dry and rough. I'm convinced one of the hardest parts about blogging is choosing a title for your post. Sometimes posts don't really speak a clear title! Like this one. Random outfit, random day, random title. One thing this post taught me though is not only is it sometimes impossible to determine a witty and meaningful title, but that I also need to speed up my photo skills. Vain Vanity

The other day I was perusing the local antique shop and discovered some beautiful colored glass dishes that I thought would help me organize the mess of a vanity I had. Last year, I had picked up this piece so I wanted to choose different colors that would compliment it, and add extra color.

In the Dark

I have a dark obsession with black walls and I desperately cannot wait until I am no longer renting and can paint a wall, or two or three in black. A black wall is sleek, masculine, classy, mysterious, and best of all highly unexpected. Besides all that, a black wall makes everything else in the room sort of POP!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and are staying warm wherever you may live. I have a big gala party for work on Saturday so I'm looking forward to putting on a dress and some dancing shoes.
